I have always loved optical illusions. I also love puns and jokes. I think of my illusion pieces as visual puns, and am especially happy if the title has multiple meanings, as well. "Sunshine and Shadow" and "Shimu" are based on reversible cubes, like the traditional quilt design, Baby Blocks. "Glad Rags" suggest flags or ribbons, dancing in the wind. "New Twist", "Unzipped" and "Breaking Loose" make the ribbon emerge from a background grid. "Passing Through" and "Primaries" appear to have the layers intersect one another.

All of the work is completely flat. The illusions are created solely by the use of color and shape. These pieces are part of the movie "Illusions".
